School time

During the summer holidays children are invited to visit our single room schoolhouse and see what school was like 150 years ago.

After the morning bell has rung the children will be reminded of the ‘School Rules’. Once these rather stringent guidelines are explained the horrified pupils will find relief in the stories, nature crafts, reading, writing, and print making. For lunch families often make a day of it and bring picnic lunches and the children get a chance to blow off steam playing outdoor games such as Tag, RedLight/Green Light and Duck Duck Goose to name but a few.

At the end of their visit your children will have learned about school life in the 1880’s and will likely have a better appreciation for the schools they attend today.  It’s an opportunity for laughter, wide-eyed attention and happy memories for all who are present.
